Beautiful Girl Biography

Source(google.com.pk)
The release of We're Already Gone and Water (a compilation), in the U.S. saw the beautiful girls morph and trim their touring party slightly. In a "back to their roots" move the band, who have worked with a series of different instrumentalists (including harmonica players, a brass section and keyboardists), toured the U.S. as a three piece. They added a keyboard player for their home tours.
The 'We're Already Gone album has enjoyed international success and raised the profile of the band considerably in the U.S. - and the response to this album there, both by the crowds and the press has been fantastic. Because of it the band have featured in ex games dvd's (through Canada and the U.S.), full page articles and the albums (both WAG and Water), continue to sell well.

On their second attempt to get into the U.S. this year the band though, the band were stopped at the border and not allowed in. The subsequent ban will see them out of the US for a year - the band anticipate being able to re-enter the country in the summer of '07. The band accepted the ban though, and made the most of the time without touring commitments by coming back to aust and recording the next album.

This album, titled ziggurats, further adds to the beautiful girls reputation as musical shape shifters.
It is, perhaps fuelled by the border crossing controversy, a tighter and punchier sound album.
Taking the some of the elements of white reggae that the band flirted with on We're Already Gone and combining them with an energy rush that moves away from roots and into a post punk style, nodding to influences from the clash and dexy's midnight runners thru to the police.
The band emphasis evident on the last album is also prevalent in the new songs, although the rhythm section is sharper again than on that recording. And once again there are a series of collaborations. This time featuring keys, a brass section, a some stunning melodica.
Even though it has a mix of songs and styles (including a South African cover from the eighties), ziggurats is likely to be considered the bands first straight ahead album - the intensity of the performances giving it the bands strongest sense of purpose yet.

('06) ::
In '06 the beautiful girls have once again circled the globe, taking their music to as many people as possible, selling out shows in the Netherlands, the U.K Canada and the U.S.
Their mid year trip across Europe (in july and august of this year) served to promote and support the release of We're Already Gone in Germany, the Netherlands and the U.K. The band also toured thru Canada and the U.S (their seventh tour of the U.S. touring partners have included; Mason Jennings, Pepper -twice- Slightly Stoopid and Fishbone).
In the U.S. both We're Already Gone and Water - a compilation featuring tracks from Morning Sun, good times (now no longer in production) and learn yourself - were released on cornerstone ras (home to sublime and slightly stoopid releases).

('07) ::
the band released its new album, titled ziggurats, in may of '07.
Ziggurats will be released in Australia and Japan simultaneously and soon after in the U.K., the US, South Africa and Europe.
There will be a world tour to support the release of the album, with the band already picking up festival dates in Japan in may.

releases ::
in '02 the band released Morning Sun, their mini-album. Periscopes was added to Triple J, the Australian national radio station. This and most of the other songs from Morning Sun, were added to a host of surf vids and dvd's by surf filmmakers in Australia. The band began the touring. At this stage it was Australia wide but a pattern was set.
good times - '03 - was released as a five track limited edition cd. Stock sold out in weeks and the art work and some of the songs appear on TBG's Brazilian (The Beautiful Girls), and Japanese (Water), releases.
Learn Yourself, '04, is a neat combination of roots, hip-hop, reggae, soul and blues. A mess of influences that formed celebration of life. That album (Learn Yourself), was the Beautiful Girls North American debut and on the back of it TBG went to the U.S.
We're Already Gone '05, expands expectation:: in instrumentation, performance and songcraft. This album has a strong band emphasis and includes a stack of extra coloring.

Pin Up Girl Biography

Buried beneath the Philippines surplus of gimmick-laden pop fluffs and diva clones, the Pin-Up Girls leapt over regional apathy to carve their own destiny in the U.S. indie scene. The Pin-Up Girls, affectionately nicknamed the Pin-Ups by their fans, were formed in 1996 by Mondo Castro (vocals, guitar) and ex-Keltscross members Pamela Aquino (vocals, guitar) and Jeng Tan (vocals, bass). The three discovered a mutual affinity for '80s new wave while hanging out in a bar. They decided to form a group, one that would revive the post-punk aesthetics of their '80s heroes such as the Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, and the Lotus Eaters. They eventually added guitarist Ryan Nachura and drummer Noel Garcia and began performing new wave covers at local clubs. At the time it was not fashionable to sing new wave tunes, especially with rap-rock quickly becoming the flavor of the latter half of the decade. Nevertheless, the Pin-Up Girls refused to compromise, reworking '80s cult classics like Blue Zoo's "Love Moves in Strange Ways," the Chameleons' "Tears," and the Housemartins' "Build" for small, hip crowds while writing their own material. The band started to shape their sound; they used two- and three-part male and female vocal harmonies and jangling guitars as their foundation. Finding zero interest from Philippine record labels, the Pin-Up Girls held a garage sale to raise money to make their own CD. In July 2001, they released Hello Pain by themselves. The album featured a number of tracks, including "Witching Hour" and "Ride Rocket Wild," that became surprise hits on Philippine radio stations. When Aquino left for the U.S., she was temporarily replaced by Jaja Manuel of Girl in Park. On July 2003, the Pin-Up Girls made their American debut with the critically acclaimed five-track EP Taste Test. The limited-edition CD quickly sold out, and the dreamy ballad "Caress" hit number one on NU-107 in the Philippines and on Flashback Alternatives in New Jersey. Garcia didn't remain with the band and Mitch Singson took his place. Aquino re-formed the all-Pinay new wave group Prettier Than Pink with founding member Lei Bautista in the U.S. yet never stopped contributing songs to the Pin-Up Girls. In 2004, Taste Test was reissued with several bonus tracks as Taste Test: Expanded Menu, receiving rave reviews in the U.K. and drawing comparisons to the Go-Betweens and the Wake. Inspired by their international accolades (albeit still relatively ignored in their own land), the Pin-Up Girls continued to evolve, reaching beyond the '60s-flashback ringing riffs of their old songs with the lush orchestration of "Caress," the minor-key gloom of "Pictures," and the synthesized pop of "How Does It Feel." ~ Michael Sutton, Rovi.

"As sexual images of women multiplied in the popular culture, women participated actively in constructing arguments to endorse as well as protest them."[14]As early as 1869, women have been supporters and protestors of the pin-up. Women supporters of early pin-up content considered these to be a "positive post-Victorian rejection of bodily shame and a healthy respect for female beauty."[15] Conversely, women protesters argued that these images were corrupting societal morality and saw these public sexual displays of women as lowering the standards of womanhood, destroying their dignity and harmful to both women and young adolescents.[15]It has further been argued by critics that in the early 20th century, these drawings of women helped define certain body images—such as being clean, being healthy, and being wholesome—and were enjoyed by both "normal" men and women; but as time progressed these images changed from respectable to illicit.

Cute Girl Biography

Source(google.com.pk)
The Beautiful Girls is an Australian band, predominantly playing roots music. They have released three EPs, ''Morning Sun'', ''Goodtimes'' and ''Weight Of The World''. Plus three full length albums, ''Learn Yourself'', ''We're Already Gone'',''Ziggurats'' and ''Spooks''. This electric harmony of rock, reggae, pop and folk has drawn comparisons with Xavier Rudd, Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Mason Jennings and more recently The Police. Since their formation in 2000 the group have toured extensively in Australia, Japan, North America and Europe. They have supported or been supported by many notable bands including Rogerthat, The Cat Empire, Powderfinger, Silverchair and Mason Jennings. They played at Dusty Days on March 15, 2008 in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Their single ''I Thought About You'' reached #60 in the ARIA Singles Chart.

The Beautiful Girls are at the forefront of the new roots and groove music movement. Both live and on record they manage to blend their affection for hip hop and reggae with their love of real blues and roots. The band brings a mellow and foxy feel to everything they touch. They rap to a resolectric, rocksteady with an acoustic and they do melody like nobody else. Each of their recordings thus far has gotten strong radio support and new album 'Learn Yourself' is no exception ... it represents not just a step but a leap in their journey.

I'm currently taking a course on reggae. We've studied the history as well as the intellectuals such as Gramsci and Benjamin. I seemed to be the only one in class who knew that reggae music was and is coming out of australia. Even my professor didn't know. However, we did go over the reggae influence in the U.K. I want to write a solid paper on the reggae, and the related (Jazz,Blues, etc.) music, scenes in Australia. Ok, here's where I need help. I've been trying to search for books, websites, etc. for good information that I can source off of. Wikipedia isn't a good idea for sourcing, even though there is interesting information. I am having trouble finding this information away from wiki. All help is awesome.

Here now is my review of the beautiful girls. I have the album, "We're Already Gone" and I enjoy every song. From the instruments to the lyrics, I never found anything I didn't like. In fact, I feel that much of the lyrics go along with what we've studied in my course.

Haha, who knows. Maybe my paper can help spread awareness past the influeces of reggae in the U.K. as well as extend the history of its already extensive one.
