Shawn Dennis joined American Girl, headquartered in Madison, WI, in January of 2008 and serves as Senior Vice President, Marketing.  American Girl is a multi-channel marketer and recently expanded into the entertainment industry with several television movies and a feature film release. In addition, American Girl is one of the nation’s leading children’s publishers and experiential retailers, with its renowned American Girl stores in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas.
In Dennis’ role, she is responsible for the strategic direction and corporate growth of American Girl.  She oversees all product development, direct and retail marketing, book and magazine development, corporate communications, consumer insights, and business intelligence. 
Prior to joining American Girl, Ms. Dennis served as the group head and Vice President, Global Branding at Dell, Inc.  With global revenues of more than $49 billion, Dell employs approximately 55,000 employees on six continents and is the premier diversified information-technology supplier and partner, selling a comprehensive portfolio of products and services.   Shawn was responsible for consolidating and centralizing Dell’s worldwide media buying and creative advertising against both businesses and consumers.
Prior to joining Dell in January 2005, Ms. Dennis served as Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President for the National Football League (NFL).  In this role Ms. Dennis drove all marketing, advertising, CRM, and sponsor promotions for the NFL and the NFLShop.com on a worldwide basis. Ms. Dennis also spent 8 years with MasterCard International in a variety of roles, most recently as Vice President Global Co-branding where she led global business development efforts to launch new co-brand payment card programs. Prior to coming to the East Coast, Ms. Dennis spent 7 years in various marketing positions with Universal Studios, ending as Vice President of Corporate Alliances driving partner revenue and promotions.  Additionally, Ms. Dennis has more than 12 years of additional marketing and brand experience working as a leader in diverse industries including toys and consumer packaged goods with top global brands including Clorox, Paramount Parks and Kenner Toys.
Ms. Dennis is active in the non-profit arena and serves on the International Committee and National Board of the American Heart Association.  Ms. Dennis received a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of California at Los Angeles. 
For over 20 years, American Girl has devoted its entire business to celebrating girls ages 3 to 12. A wholly owned subsidiary of Mattel, Inc., American Girl is one of the nation’s top multi-channel marketers, with direct, retail, and publishing divisions to serve the American Girl brand and its customers.
