It went to #1 in 31 countries worldwide and became the biggest-selling debut single of all time. In the U.K. it stayed at the top of the U.K. Singles chart for seven weeks and went on to sell over six million copies worldwide. It also topped the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in the United States for three weeks in February 1997. Follow-up singles “Say You'll Be There” and “2 Become 1” also went to #1 in the U.K. and reached the Top 5 across most of Europe and in the U.S.

The group's debut album, “Spice,” was released in the U.K. in November 1996 and became another global success, selling two million copies in its first week and ten million copies in the next seven months. “Spice” has sold over 23 million copies worldwide and was certified 10x platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) in the U.K. The fourth Spice Girls single, the double A-side “Who Do You Think You Are” / “Mama,” also went to #1 in the U.K.

In 2007 all five members of the Spice Girls reunited to work together to record new tracks to appear on their “Greatest Hits” album. The album was released that year with two new songs, the single, “Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)” and “Voodoo.” The album peaked at #2 in the U.K., where it was certified platinum.
